Editions Carrés d'Art

Hier et aujourd'hui

'La fille de Londres' by Etoile Davyctoire     At the suggestion of Hervé Bazin, then President of the Goncourt Academy, the Editions Carrés d'Art have collected 21 texts of former and present-day academicians.
Thirteen world-famous painters: Bonnefoit, Davyctoire, De Pass, Du Jannerand, Fuchs, Jouenne, Mick Micheyl, Poulet, Saint-Geniès, Sébire, Sementzeff, Steinlen, Toffoli -for some of whom it was their first lithograph, and for others their first book illustration- have accompanied with 21 original lithographs eight former academicians: Aragon, Carco, Colette, Daudet, Giono, Guitry, Mac Orlan, Clavel, and present-day ones: Bazin, Boulanger, Charles-Roux, Mallet-Joris, Nourissier, Roblès, Sabatier, Stil.
If texts such as La fille de Londres by Mac Orlan or Est-ce ainsi que les hommes vivent by Aragon still ring in our ears, most texts of present-day academicians have never been published.
Set in foundry type 14 point Garamond Italic, the edition consists of 480 numbered copies on finest papers Vélin de Rives and Rivoli. The text and the lithographs were printed on Pierre Jean Mathan's press.
The work, in quarto royal size (25 x 32 cm), is presented on loose leaves in a Bernard Duval box.
