"The Prince", by Machiavelli

Niccolo Machiavelli, by Henri W.      'An abominable book' for Frederic II, a founder for the philosophers of the Enlightenment, 'The Prince' is certainly one of the most delicate work to illustrate. Henry W. Westel in 14 original lithographs and 21 drawings succeeds, togheter with receating the atmosphere of Florence under the Medicis, in translating the actuality of Machiavel's thought, making Professor Humbert say 'with Henry W. Westel, Machiavelli found his Ambassador and the Bibliophile his Machiavelli' ...

     Handset in foundry type 16 “Souvenir”, printed on Master Pierre-Jean Mathan's press, the run has been limited at 180 printed copies on finest paper B F K Rives. The 14 lithographs and 22 drawings and tailpieces printing, each signed by the Artist, has been entrusted to Pascal Duriez. The molden paper marbling is Monique Varacka's creation.

      The work, in quarto royal size (25 x 32 cm) is presented on loose leaves in a Bernard Duval box.
