Paul Verlaine - La Bonne Chanson.

     Let's dream, it's time.
La Bonne Chanson (detail)     Rocked by the rumbling of the train taking him away from Mathilde, the prince of poets, his spirit haunted by his Beloved, recreates her in his dreams. This verse as simple as wonderful, submitting time to the rhythm of their heart beats, has been recreated by all lovers.
      Hélène Nué, in 17 engravings on copperplate filled with emotions and sensitivity, achieves with her first book illustration the miracle of making us forget her perfect mastery of the burin, to hear the gentle music of this Bonne Chanson.
     Hand set in foundry type 12 point Erasmus, the edition consists of 150 numbered copies on finest papers: pearly Japanese and Vélin de Rives. The text was composed and printed in three colours on Pierre Jean Mathan's press and the copperplates have been colored dabbed by Francine and Jean Cappelle. Each engraving is signed by the Artist.
     The work, in royal octavo (16 x 25 cm), bound with leather back and engraved parchment boards is presented in a royal quarto (25x32 cm) box by Bernard Duval. .
